The Dual-Degree Programs at Southern
Whether you’re pursuing your MSN/MBA or DNP/MBA, here’s a quick look at the eligibility requirements, admissions process, and deadlines for the dual-degree program.
The curriculum for the dual-degree programs is divided into nursing core courses and MBA core courses. In the nursing courses, you’ll start with Orientation to Nursing Graduate Studies and then take classes specific to either the MSN or DNP.
You’ll also get to take MBA courses such as Operations Management, Leadership and Change, and Integrating Faith and Business.

MSN/MBA Eligibility and Prerequisites
This list includes requirements for both the School of Business and the School of Nursing:
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
- GPA Requirement: A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Course in Statistics: An undergraduate or graduate course in statistics (3 credit hours)
- Current Licensure: Current RN licensure in the state or country of practice
- Work Experience: A minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of current nursing experience
- GMAT Requirement: Submit scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). With approval, applicants may be admitted without the GMAT if they have:
- An undergraduate degree from a U.S. institution with a minimum GPA of 3.25
- OR a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 with five years of full-time business-related management experience
