MSW/MBA Dual Degree

The MSW/MBA dual degree at Southern is designed for people whose passion for helping others is matched by their passion for business and leadership. The program meets at the intersection of social work, business, and healthcare leadership and combines the best of both the social work and business fields.

With Southern’s MSW/MBA Dual Degree, you’ll learn about how human resources, conflict resolution, relationships, ethics, and organizational effectiveness work hand-in-hand and why harnessing all of these skills will make you a better leader. The faith-based approach will also help you bring Christian values to the business side of social work. At a time when so much emphasis is placed on profits and the bottom line, you’ll be able to offer empathy, compassion, and a people-first perspective.

On the MBA side of the program, you’ll learn about finance, marketing, accounting, and management—everything that will help you on the business side of social work, such as leading a team or managing a nonprofit.

In the MSW courses, you’ll learn about mental health advocacy, crisis management, human behavior, and psychology. The MSW/MBA dual-degree option will emphasize both areas. Our graduates continue to share how both perspectives have helped them succeed as professionals.

To be a successful leader, you need both strong business acumen and a deep understanding of people. It takes a special kind of person to have both skill sets—and the right education.

Your Career with an MSW/MBA Dual Degree

With an MSW and MBA, you’ll enjoy the freedom to choose from a large number of career options. Whether you want to go into the clinical or administrative side of social work, you’ll have a mastery of each of them—in both theory and practice—that you’ll be able to apply directly to a number of roles.

You could follow a wide range of career choices with an MSW/MBA to your name, and of course, earning a dual degree will likely increase your earning potential. Your actual salary range will vary depending on which field you enter, but on average, you can expect to earn approximately $100,000 per year.
